Challenge your Spiritual Self to Grow;

Gain peace within and feel good about who you are.

Spiritual growth challenge

Take a quiet time daily. Our spirits need quiet time to contemplate. When we rush all the time we deny the spiritual need to consider our place in the world or our connection to the Creator.

  • think about your day and make a time you can sit still for at least five minutes
  • you may want to have a simple devotional book available to guide your thoughts
  • you may want to have a journal to write down thoughts that occur to you
  • choose a quiet time and a quiet place, it is good to use the same time and place every day
  • go to that place at the time and sit still, be quiet
  • read your devotional material, not more than a paragraph or so if you choose
  • or repeat a verse, phrase or positive thought if you like
  • or let your mind wonder unguided
  • if your thoughts are taken by things you need to do write them on a piece of paper or your to do list, then let go of them and redirect your thoughts
  • if an insight comes to you, you may want to write it in a journal or notebook
  • when your time is up take a deep breath and go on with your day

Have trouble finding that inner peace?

You need to balance your spiritual needs with the rest of your humanness.
Though some people deny it, most people recognize our spiritual nature.

This means different things to different people.  Most basically it means we have a spirit; there is something more than our physical existence.

Our bodies live because of some spiritual breath within us. We feel a deep need to search for meaning beyond the physical. We try to find purpose in life.

We strive to understand our place in the cosmos. We have a need to belong to something bigger, to connect with something higher than ourselves.

Some people say we have a “God-shaped hole” inside us. Most people recognize this spiritual nature as part of being created by a greater power, something, or someone who has the power to create. I

once heard that there was a law of nature that stated that every characteristic within any item must have originated from something with the same characteristics.

Because we can think, create, and love, we must have come from a source that could also think, create, and love. Because we have a spiritual nature we must have come from a source with a spiritual nature.

Coming to terms with our spiritual nature and nurturing it is a life long process. But it is important that we begin the process.

If we ignore our spiritual nature and neglect our need to come to peace with our creator and the cosmos we will not come to peace with ourselves.
